Australia is among the countries with the highest incidence of malignant mesothelioma in the world and unfortunately this rate is expected to continue to rise for at least the next 20 years. Last year alone over 700 Australian families were devastated to learn that a loved-one had been diagnosed with mesothelioma. Experts estimate that there were at least another 1,500 Australians with lung cancer caused by asbestos. The Asbestos Diseases Research Institute (ADRI), a state-of-the-art medical research facility on the Concord Hospital Campus, was established in 2009 by the Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation (ADRF), a charitable, not-for-profit foundation.
As a disease-oriented research institute, your donation enables us to continue our commitment to improve disease prevention and to pave the way to a better future for asbestos victims.

There are other ways of supporting the on-going research into asbestos-related disease and remembering those who are close to you who have passed away from this hideous disease.
In Memoriam Donation ~ A
Bequest ~ Regular Donations ~ Corporate
Donations

Often, after the passing of a loved one, family members look for special ways to remember and honour their memory. One way in which this can be done is by arranging for family and friends to donate in memory of the person who has passed away.
A Memorial Donation to the Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation is a thoughtful way to remember someone, and at the same time help give health and life to those who remain.
Any money donated to the Foundation in this way is recorded as a donation in memory of the deceased. Often the family may ask that any money that would normally have been spent on flowers for the funeral be instead directed to Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation. Of course donations in addition to this are welcomed and will also be recorded as a memorial donation. The next of kin are notified in writing of all those who have contributed.

Or you can phone us on 02 9767 9800 (9am to 5pm).
Alternatively, when making arrangements with the Funeral Director in preparation for a funeral you can discuss your wishes for an In Memoriam Donations.
The Funeral Director can then contact the Institute on (02) 9767 9800 and we can supply of our special In Memoriam pre-paid envelopes and arrange for them to be distributed at the service. Many families also like to mention these arrangements in the Funeral Notice that is placed in the newspaper so that those wishing to make a gift in lieu of flowers can do so.

A bequest is a donation left to an organisation by an individual in their Will. It can take the form of cash, shares, property or other assets. Click here to download the form .
Why should you leave a bequest in your will to the Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation?
Your Will is one of the most important documents that you will ever prepare. It ensures that the people and organisations that you care about are provided for after your death. In preparing your Will, your first concern will obviously be for your family and others close to you. After providing for the financial security for your loved ones, you may like to consider including a bequest to the Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation.
By remembering the Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation in your Will you can help to improve treatment and enhance the quality of life of those affected by asbestos-related diseases. So whether large or small, your bequest will be greatly valued, because it will change the lives of people who have been affected by asbestos.
If you are considering including the Foundation in your Will, we will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. Please call (02) 9767 9800. Alternatively, if you are currently in the process of preparing your Will, you can use the suggested wording as follows:

By making a regular donation via a direct debit each month, quarterly or yearly, you will provide invaluable support to our work. This will allows us to use pledged income to plan for the future. You will also help us to save on administrative costs and postage, as receipting is available annually at the end of each financial year.
